Cultivating & Embracing Change Mental Health Summer Enrichment Program
​SUMMARY
​
The Mental Health and Wellness Summer Enrichment Program is a five-week initiative designed for high school juniors and seniors to improve their mental health and wellness. The program includes engaging workshops led by licensed mental health professionals, certified wellness instructors, career readiness professionals, and financial literacy experts. The program provides seminars that educate youth on identifying symptoms associated with stress, burnout, anxiety, depression, and other mental health conditions. Youth will participate in wellness practices such as yoga, Zumba, painting, mindfulness, and meditation and attend field trips. Youth will participate in skill-building activities and receive guidance on college and career pathways, specifically in the mental health and human services fields. They will also participate in career college readiness and financial literacy seminars.
This program seeks to enhance youth's mental, emotional, and social well-being and provides a strong foundation for academic achievement and future career success.

Who can apply?
High school students who meet the following criteria:

Aged 17 to 21 years old.

Reside in Baltimore City.

Interested in exploring mental health and wellness and/or
-
Planning to pursue a career in psychology, counseling, social work, or human services.

When and where does the program take place?
The program runs from June 29, 2026 to July 31, 2026, five days a week, for five hours daily, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The program is hosted at Coppin State University (CSU).

What is the program cost?
The program is entirely free, and participants participate in activities, seminars, and field trips.
Will youths be compensated for participation?
Yes, participants participating in the Youthworks program will receive paid opportunities for attending this program.

The program is led by licensed mental health professionals with extensive experience working with youth, certified wellness instructors, career college readiness professionals, and financial literacy experts.
Can parents or guardians participate?
Parents and guardians can attend the orientation session at the start of the program. Workshops for parents and guardians will be offered, centered on mental wellness.
What meals are provided?
Participants will receive nutritious meals through CSU’s dining facility.
How are participants selected for the program?
Selection is based on eligibility criteria, a demonstrated interest in mental health and wellness, and a completed application.
What is the program’s attendance policy?
Participants are expected to attend daily to receive the program's full benefits.
